| Packet voice processing board | The PVM board is also called the narrowband control board of the master shelf. The PVM board supports the following functions: Controls the narrowband service boards. Converts the TDM voice traffic into IP packets. Supports the H.248/SIP protocol. Provides one FE port for transmitting the IP-based voice service. Supports the V5 interface to provide the V5 voice service. The PVMB board can provide four E1 ports. The PVMD backplane provides four E1 ports, and the panel of the PVMD board provides one GE optical port and one FE optical/electrical port. |

| Remote subscriber processing card | Controls the narrowband line cards in the remote subscriber frame. Implements the subtending of narrowband services with the UA5000 master frame. Provides upstream E1 ports for the narrowband services. NOTE: RSU8/RSU4 is no longer manufactured. |
